Animal in Street

This artwork captures my encounters with autistic children at Ye-Aram Special Needs School and focuses on JiEun, a girl who sees animals in everything. Her fascination with even the smallest animal-like feature inspires her to create breathtaking, surreal animal imagery.

Influenced by Marta Garcia's series Pedestrian Crossings, I employed a similar style in this composition and emphasized select figures in vibrant colors; other figures fade into black silhouettes. This visual approach reflects JiEun’s unique perception in which certain people stand out in vivid hues while the rest appear as mere shadows. These vibrant tones juxtaposed against the dull backdrop bring JiEun’s imaginative world to life and highlights the beauty of her unique vision.
