Lost Pieces
For our school Capstone project in my middle school, students organized a unisex fashion show, featuring male students in skirts and female students in pants. It was as surprising as seeing the moon in daylight or the sun at night. While I loved the experience, younger students found it "weird," a reaction that reminded me of when teachers once questioned my choice to wear pants. Jung emphasized the importance of balancing Anima & Animus to escape gender stereotypes and reach better self-understanding.
In this artwork, the desert symbolizes rigid social views and shattered and hidden forms of Anima and Animus embody the inadequacy and shame I felt during those moments. The surreal, expansive space enhances the fragmented portrayal of Anima and Animus, portraying the hardship in challenging conventional norms.
