Beyond Vision
In my artwork, I illustrated an elephant to depict honor, justice, and the spirit of togetherness and how all these constructs exist together. The elephant’s serpent itself represents a duality of evil that exists, as an attachment to the elephant’s trunk. I got inspired by the parable “Blind Men and an Elephant,” where people assume what it is by only touching one part of the elephant’s body.
Through this composition, I tried to capture the fine line between good and evil, and reflect our society’s effort to uphold justice and peace amidst continuous conflicts in our world today. The spear represents an attempt to hunt evil (the serpent), while the pillars represent an unshakeable force. Through graphic motifs, repetitive patterns, and symmetrical composition, the piece conveys the inherent nature of social discord and amplifies the permanence of these struggles within our society.
